June 18 found us wandering Midtown (we spent one day in Lower Manhattan, one day in Midtown and a half a day way up near Grant's Tomb - that photo post is coming later). We skipped most of the touristy stuff for lack of funds (no adventure to the top of the Empire State Building - it's $18 a head to stand in line for three hours! What?!) but did manage to see everything that we could see that was free. And now you can see some of it too.

Nerd! Sometimes being a tourist is fun. We lamented that we couldn't go to the top, but then again, if we were inside it, we wouldn't be able to see it, now would we?

Bryant Park was pretty clogged at lunchtime.
I loved the art-deco men holding up the lamp, then Pat pointed out the "Fallout Shelter" sign and I liked this shot even more.
Patrick had to take a jaunt through Midtown Comics.
It's kind of like "Where's Waldo."
As we neared Times Square, I seem perfectly serene, but Pat has other ideas about his surroundings.
Oh yes, we hit Toys R Us in Times Square. I wanted to ride the ferris wheel, but I knew if I didn't get the My Little Pony car, it wouldn't be worth it - and I didn't want to risk having to clothesline some kid so I could get in.
Have I mentioned Patrick is a nerd? I don't even know what this creature is. But I am definitely offended by its genitalia.
High five! Er, mid-level five!
Just your average day on the Lego seas...
Oh no! Man overboard!
I was taking this picture of the New Years Eve ball pole in the background, when the construction workers in the foreground noticed I was taking their picture. I jokingly said, "Smile!"...
...And they did!
We took a short breather in Central Park. I like this picture.
Rockefeller Center
He's got mad picture-taking skills. Either that, or he is part ape. Not sure which.
Once (actually, the night Patrick and I met) I got really really drunk and kept saying "I want to go to there" a la Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. As a result, I want this shirt real bad.
We also went to the Museum of Sex, which was pretty awesome. The first room we walked into was an exploration of pornography over the years, and hardcore videos from the last five decades were being projected on the walls, ceiling, floor and on tables. It was pretty overwhelming (but kind of awesome). That shock value subsided, however, when the rest of the museum was a comparably dry (no pun intended) collection of exhibits including condoms, sex in fine art, and animal sexuality (which is where we came across that deer threesome up there).
